• The Urban League of Greater Cleveland was founded in 1917 as an interracial organization made up of black leaders and prominent whites. The main goal of the organization was to provide assistance in the areas of housing, employment, health and education for those new to the Cleveland community.
  
  # In the early days the League focused on economic development through improved employment and housing opportunities for minorities.
  
  Today, the Urban League of Greater Cleveland continues its tradition of working to make life better and more productive for minorities.
